Ministries & Church Of God In Christ Team Up For Back-To-School Event
Over 250 primary and secondary school students will benefit from a Back-to-School Community Outreach which will take place at the Church of God in Christ, Layne’s Road, Brittons Hill, St. Michael, on Saturday, August 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It is being hosted by the Barbados and Caribbean Church of God in Christ, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the One Family Programme within the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs.
The initiative aims to provide essential school supplies to children and families in need. The outreach is designed to give practical support to families preparing for the new school year.
Students will receive school supplies, while attendees will also benefit from immunisation services, dental and vision screenings, and health education. In addition, family-friendly activities, including jumping tents, inflatable slides, mountain climbing, and face painting, will be available throughout the day.
The community outreach is part of the ministries’ shared commitment to promoting the health, well-being, and the educational readiness of children and families throughout Barbados and is supported by the Constituency Offices of St. Michael South and St. Michael South Central.
The event is intended to integrate oral health promotion alongside immunisation, vision screening, and educational support to improve routine childhood immunisation coverage and encourage healthy habits that can improve children’s overall health and school performance.
