Public Warned About Environmental Health Impostor

The Ministry of Health advises the public that anyone claiming to be an Environmental Health Officer must show an official identification card carrying the signature of the Chief Medical Officer. (Canva)

The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MHW) is again cautioning members of the public to be aware of an impostor who has been approaching businesses posing as an Environmental Health Officer.

The individual has been suggesting to the proprietors of establishments that they should use a particular pest control company to address identified vector control issues. This matter is of concern to the Ministry of Health and Wellness and has been reported to The Barbados Police Service.

The Ministry advises the public that anyone claiming to be an Environmental Health Officer must show an official identification card carrying the signature of the Chief Medical Officer.

Environmental Health Officers employed by the Government of Barbados must not solicit business on behalf of any private company while on duty.

If any member of the public is unsure as to whether a person visiting their premises is an Environmental Health Officer, they should call the nearest polyclinic, or the Chief Environmental Health Officer at telephone number 536-3854.
